Art and Design Statment

I created Blue Amber to bring cute designs that are like mini artworks that can be placed anywhere. One of the ways that this can be done is through stickers. Stickers allow people to express themselves and their interest in small simple ways in their daily lives. One of the other main things that I strive for is quality on a budget. I do lots of research and trials to find a sell price that is affordable but has the high quality that people expect from professional products. One of the reason people go to craft shows is to see all the crafted stuff but it can be a struggle for some people on a tight budget. Blue Amber works towards being affordable for those on a tight budget because everyone deserves to be able to express themselves.

Statement of Production Process

The main goals that Blue Amber strives for are keeping cost low and quality high, mindfulness of waste, and made by hand or made locally. The production research was done with great care that it was a reasonable cost and did quality tests to narrow it down to one manufacture. I get the stickers made through Stickerbeaver.ca. I check to make sure there are straight lines and clear colours. For mindfulness of waste, I use bags and paper that can be recycled or composted. This makes it so the only thing that wouldn’t be ecofriendly would be the sticker itself. The printer I use for all prints and paper in the packaging is printed with an ecofriendly printer. All items except the sticker themselves are made and assembled in house by hand. I design, print, and trim all packaging and prints by hand. The stickers are done through a manufacture called StickerBeaver.ca that is based in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta. I wanted to make sure that if I can’t make the stickers in house, that the stickers are made in Canada.

Overall, the full process for stickers is: I create the design on my computer/ tablet. Next, I submit the file to the website, go over the proof, and order. Then do quality check and package them.

The full process for prints is: I create the artwork on my computer/ tablet. Print and trim. Lastly, package in bags to protect prints.
